That's retail price. Mahindra cost is probably $100...or less.

You're probably right, and it's a shame they would even suggest something isn't covered under warranty when the tractor is ~6 months old with only 22.5 hours on it. Especially over $100!

$2600 is more accurate. They have to change the whole axle end, because the new spindle design doesn't have clearance in the original casting.

On my machine, they only fixed the one side. It took a few weeks to get done, but was pretty painless otherwise. The mechanic made sure to work with Mahindra whenever there was a question about shimming etc, it's not the type of assembly that you should just slap together with no care.

For what it's worth, they did check the opposite side for filings to see if they could get it covered. The mechanic said that Mahindra has noticed the left side front is what they see fail, very rarely a right side. Not sure why that would be, but that's what he said.

They should definitely cover it, unless it was due to negligence of not checking lug nuts or something like that. But if you had a spindle fail, there's nothing there that you are supposed to touch for maintenance. So unless you dropped the tractor off a truck or something and caused the failure that way, I would expect you shouldn't have a problem.

With the tractor 6 months and 22.5 hrs on it. It most certainly should be covered under warranty. There is also no such thing as negligence of not checking lugs on a 22.5 hr new tractor. Mahindra's manual informs, check wheel bots and lugs at 50hrs, and dealer is also supposed to check them at the 50hr service.

That was my exact response to the dealer. Wheel bolts are to be first checked at 50 hours. If they weren't tightened at pre-delivery, that's on the dealer (which is different than the dealer it is at now).
