front quick hitch ice?

While we have had near record snow this winter I continue to wish for a snowblower for my 2210. And while I scour the internet for a great price on used equipment a thought occured to me today. AFter clearing away 10" of snow in 10 degree weather I chipped away a lot of ice buildup on the front of the tractor and underneath the bucket cylinders where the cylinder could have gotten bent with just a little more ice. Question is about ice buildup on the front hydraulic quick hitches, is it ever a problem?

Yes, it is a problem-no real good way around it.

While plow our heavy december snow, an ice block built up in the quick hitch and busted one of the hydraulic fittings coming out of the angle cylinder. I now check for ice often.

I'm thinkning it might be worth the extra time/trouble to park the unit in a heated garage until the snow melts off. In my case, the normal tractor storage area is an unheated shed.

For about $130 (I think) you can get a kerosene heater from TSC. Put it in your unheated shed and let it run about an hour or two after clearing snow. Just be sure it is not touching anything directly. Works for me to get the snow off the blower when I'm done and comes in handy when I'm in the garage working.

Turns the garage into a nice man cave for me.

Or maybe move the whole thing to the 3pt.. via a RFM?

not sure what RFM is but there you go, use a rear 3 point snowblower and just turn the operator's station around! LOL

I clean it off after every use and never worry about it. And its always outside.

In 10 deg weather, how does it melt in the first place? Seems at some point the hitch must have been warm, and then parked in the cold.
