I plan on building a front mounted snowthrower for my Kubota B2920. I will model it after the Kubota 2781A 50" and/or 2782 63" snowthrower. I have a few questions that I'm sure you all can help with.

- Is the front quick hitch that the snowthrower uses some sort of industry standard? Can some one direct me to dimensions/specifications.

- What kind of PTO shaft is used at the front of the tractor? Is it a 10 spline 31/32" just like the tractor mid PTO or something else? Is this shaft type some sort of standard that goes with the quick hitch? Where can I find spline shafts other then the Kubota factory one(very pricey)?

- Are the Kubota illustrated parts diagrams available anywhere. I've tried a few local dealers with out any luck. I diagrams for the subframe (B2733A?) and PTO kit (B2788, B2737?) would also be very helpful.

Thanks.

I would go with the 63" size. I have a B7610, 24HP engine / 18HP PTO, which handles my 60" Woods SB60 snow blower just fine. You have even more power, so you'll be find with the larger size. Plus, 50" is probably narrower than your rear tires (I have R4's on my B7610, and keep them at the widest setting, which is 53" wide, I guess your B2920 might be even wider).

Also, I would at least buy the Kubota PTO shaft, rather than try to make one.

There have been a couple of snow blower build projects already posted. You might want to look at them for ideas. It looks like a lot of work, so, if you are doing it because you enjoy the build process, and want a lengthy project, then have at it, and post plenty of pictures. If you are just trying to save money over buying the Kubota front blower, then your best bet is to just fab what you need to adapt something else. Keep in mind that the mid-PTO on your tractor is 2000 RPM, and the rear-mount blowers are 540 RPM, and would also turn the wrong direction, so if you're inclined to try to adapt a 3PH blower, you'll need a 4X rear reducer that reverses direction, or replace the gearbox on the blower with one that takes 2000 RPM input (in the correct direction).

Good luck with the build, and remember, we like pictures!

The Kubota driveline for my BX would have been about $500 when I was looking to adapt a B2650 snowblower to my BX22. The blower had the correct quick attach to fit the mid PTO and I used yokes , crosses, pillow block bearings, and a splined shaft from Baum Hydraulics plus some cold rolled shafting bought locally to make my drivelines. Don't know where you could find the quick attach for the PTO other than from Kubota. It is not a standard. I have about $200 invested in it. As far as the hitch I built my own. I don't think there is a "standard".
If you shop on Baums website, beware some of their prices are way off (high). You need to call them. I would suggest you get their catalog. Has driveline parts, bearings, chains and spockets, auger flighting, all kinds of useful stuff for you're project.

Go with the 63"

I have the 51" industrial front mount Kubota blower and my b2920 handles it with NO problems. Have blown everything from soft wet snow to hard ice crusted snow to heavy/grader/snow plow snow at the roadway and have never bogged down the engine even running well below pto rated speed.

Also if you ever get a rear blade most are 48 or 60". If you opt for the larger blade with the 51" blower your blade will cut into the snow that your 51" blower did not clear because of the 4.5" left on each side.

Just my 5 cents.

Hey ericher69, do you mind posting pictures of your snow blower on your B2920? I'm thinking about getting one for mine and haven't seen one in person. Can you turn the blower and does it get all of the snow all the way down to the ground?

Here are a few

Let me know if you need more

Ps. This is the 63" blower; I traded the 51" in for it.

As has already been posted the mid pto run opposite direction and at a different speed.
I have a b3030 with front blower and quick hitch. I can get you some pictures tomorrow if you want?

Tommtz270

I am just in the process of starting a front mount project on my B2320 kubota. I have a new 66" Farm King
Snowblower that I am going to mount on the front. I ordered two right angle gearboxes 1-1 and am going to marry them and mount on rear pto That way I have the proper rotating and speed.
When I get my parts I will start on it , next week i hope.
I will post pictures and look for ideas and advice in the snowblower form
