Hello All,

So I am considering replacing my Husky GT2654 with a JD X758. Is there a front end loader available for the X758? I don't seem to be able to find one. I know there is one available for the 1025R series. Which, can be had with a Mid Mount Mower which I NEED. I have need to move some soil and rocks are from time to time, and the FEL would be perfect for that. Along with a box scraper too.

So if no FEL for the "X" series, then I guess I could step up to the 1025R, which would give me everything I could use in basically the same sized package. At least, I think the two are similar in size.

Thanks,
B.

No factory loaders for the X758 but there are a few aftermarket ones such as the CTC.

The 1025R will weigh more than a X758 if thats important to your lawn, size wise I think they are similar except for the height of the ROPS on the 1025 which can be an issue if you mow under low tree branches.

The X758's AWD will be less likely to tear up your grass while turning compared to 1025's engaged 4 wheel drive.

The X 758 is a super mower but the 4x4 tires will just eat up your grass is at all soft .
I would go with the 1025R the X 758 is full time four wheel drive also .

You might look for a lightly used x748 with the 45 loader too. I have not had any scuffing issues with my x749 and suspect that KeyBear's x758 may need the front axle valve adjusted.

Hum.... Just looked at the 1025R specs again and it appears as though the 4x4 is select-able via a lever on the right side of the operator? So not full time? The X758 does show full time 4x4 which I did not realize. The X758 is around 1038lbs without implements and has a wheel base about 1.4" shorter that the 1025R. However, the 1025R weighs around 1444 pounds, quite a bit more for the poor old lawn. Their outside wheel width is nearly identical. Overall length for the X758 is around 75 inches, but nothing is listed for the 1025R. While the weight of the 1025R could be a factor, it DOES offer a lot more features for not much more money. B.

Bruce,
You pretty much nailed the difference, the x758 has a slight edge for mowing with less damage to the lawn. The 1025R has the 8 in 1 tool advantage but more weight and mfwd is harder on the lawn.

I had an x758 for a couple of years and sold it. The x749 with 4x4ws simply out performed the x758. Since both the x758 and 1025R are two wheel steer I would lean towards the 1025R since you want a fel and box blade. The subcompacts are good for the 8 in 1 type machines, not as good as the 4 wheel steers for mowing but good enough if the lawn is dry when mowing.

I think the X series were cheapened up over the last few years making them lighter and as a result they don't make FELs for them. Aftermarket manufactorers might though. They took some of the steel and braces needed for a FEL off the tractor to make the tractor lighter and thereby cheaper.

If someone has better info on that I would like to know.

A neighbor friend had a subcompact JD with R4s and a 60" deck. He mowed with a POS little tractor and I asked why not use the nice larger tractor for mowing. He told me that from driving around his trees every week mowing he began to see the grass getting worn down to dirt. But he had a manicured type lawn.

CTC does make a FEL for the X series. They look like a good design and not to badly priced. B.

DeereDude,

As I recall the issue was restrictions placed on weight by government agency (don't remember which one). The x749 was dropped in the new line up (too heavy) and the fels were discontinued. I don't see money as the issue these were good sellers for Deere.
