What series? 200, 300, 400?

The CX is the better of the 2 lines, usually with more lift capacity. There are some other difference in each series as well...that's why I asked which series.

Well a new one is about 25,000 with loader and discount, this means that with 1100 hrs on this tractor that the reduction comes to $7.50/hr of use. Not unreasonable to me but if it were me I would buy the new tractor with new tires for the $25,000 with full warranty with the 0% financing and never look back.

Isn't the main difference the detachability/removability of the loader? The CX is removable, while the X stays on "permanently. Also--as Kenny mentioned some additional lift capacity.

That is only true for the 200 series used on the smaller framed tractors. The 300 and 400 series are all easily removable.

Kind of pricey in that condition. New shoes alone will run $1500 or more.

Good find. This question comes up quite frequently and this is the best info I've seen to date to indicate specific differences. I've asked the question to at least two different dealers and never got this much info -- usual answer CX is self leveling and X is not.
Many thanks.

I was just lucky...

That is only the case for the 400 series.
