Got the cylinder back for the dipper to my BH... I'm back in business.

It's amazing how quickly you can tear out an 8-12" tree stump and all!!!

Question, in regards to the gear lube in the front axle of my DK35.

I notice I have a sight glass on the rear of the front axle... where is the gear lube suppose to be at... half way???

thanks

Yes, Half way..
Anywhere within the site glass is fine.

The maual states to open the filler, and the sight glass, pour the oil (90W gear oil) into the filler hole until it starts to pour out of the sight glass hole, put the filler plug and sight glass back in and go play. John

Does your manual really say that ?
I know Kioti doesn't have the best owners manuals, but I personally would never remove the site glass ( kind of defeats the purpose of having a site glass in the first place), just fill till you can see it within the glass.

I thought the same thing. I'll just fill it 'til it's in the sight glass and I'm done. G

That's what mine says! But I'm with you, just fill it, that's what the thing's for. But it will actually be just under the red dot if you do it they way they want it done, not halfway. John

Ok! I would like to know how you would remove the sight glass? Mine are leaking slightly if they are removable perhaps I could stop the seepage.

philshel - The site glass on your LK3054 is most likely the push in style. All newer kiotis are screw in. What happens in over time the rubber that seals the site glass shrinks and then starts leaking To fix the leak you can do one of two things (best to do when you are changing fluid) 1st pop that old one out using a small screw driver being careful not to damage it, clean the hole really good, get all the fluid off, apply some silicone sealant and pop it back in. Or you can just buy a new site glass and silicone it and pop it in. We have done them both ways....

I too agree do not remove the site glass to check the fluid. In the manual it does say to remove the "oil level check plug" but I believe it is referring to a non-site glass style plug. Yours has the site glass so no need to remove.

Another wonderful Kioti manual slip up. They "say" oil level check plug, and the picture refers to the loaction of the sight glass on my CK20, so that's the one they are referring to, but no need to remove it. Must have had a solid check plug on the older models. John
