SUDT here.

What would the reasons be for using one over the other? I'm surprised Kubota would recommend such a broad range of viscosities.

SUDT strikes me as being better in cold weather. Winters here are typically mild but occasionally get a little on the cold side (min temp 0-5 deg F.)

Then again, with the added stress of an FEL on the front axle, 80W90 might be the better choice.

At the 50 hour change I went with Kubota branded 80W-90. The original stuff from the factory was not UDT or SUDT way to thick and slow to drain. Most of the parts in the front end is submerged in fluid so I figure UDT, SUDT, or 80W-90 are all fine.

I wish I knew. I just bought the thing used, and I have no idea what's in it. The manual says you can use either.

At the 50hr service, Mystik JT-7 80W-90 went into mine. I'm now a few hours shy of 400hr and and have another jug of JT-7 for the change.

The front end has really been put to the test with all the trees I've pushed over, stumps I've dug out, and hills I've climbed. And I've always felt good about having a thicker lube in there when things get heated up from all the weight and stress. However, if I used the loader less, I'd probably just go with whatever was cheaper/easier to get.

At 450 hours I have a bad leak under the front axle pivot area on my BX -1500. I just ordered a new pivot assembly O-rings included through Kubota. I will be changing over to 80 / 90 gear after I reinstall the new parts. Others may disagree, SUDT is to thin for my needs. I go through withdrawal when my tractor is not 100%.........

Ive used UDT to be sure mine is always topped off..and when change time comes I'll probably stick with UDT. I dont work my B3030 hard and never in some of the REALLY COLD weather some of these guys see...so its performanc is more than acceptable to me

A real synthetic gear fluid will have equal too or better props at lower temps then SUDT.

Just got back from a Kubota dealer here in New Hampsha, where the winters get cold...the service manager says 80W90 for the Front Axel, better lubrication, and they have never seen a problem with thickening even in the cold weather conditions we get here. They have been a Bota dealer for along time.
