front antiscalp roller removal on MMM

Has anybody removed the front antiscalp roller on their MMM (e.g. to grease the roller axle)? The RCK54-75B (54 inch) model has a steel pin in it. It looks like it needs to be hammered out, and I can't tell if it is tapered at one end or not, nor can I tell if it should be pushed one direction or the other to remove it. Has anybody done this?

I don't believe that you need to worry about greasing the front middle roller. I imagine you will wear out the deck itself long before the middle roller goes.
