This is a King Hibiscus that I put in a few years ago. The Japanese beetles attack the leaves, but the plant still flowers. Forgot to put out the beetle traps this summer...
This plant is about 6 years old and has survived bad winters and poor soil conditions. This year it has survived drought conditions also. I planted a bunch of seeds in the spring, but only one plant emerged. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Someone in my office had one of these and we put a cutting in some water to sprout. It was just a stick but rooted out nicely. Its potted now and sits on my desk -- about four feet tall and when it blooms its incredible. But it tends to bloom when I'm out of town -- wonder if its trying to tell me something.
