I think the main reason they put things like ice cream in reduced sized containers is so you know when to stop...

I have to admit to a certain amount of skepticism about long ago customs or sayings. E.g. How does anyone know what Aristotle said? We have writings from others that purport to record what he said, but how do we know these are accurate?

@Jstpssng while my initial inclination would be to ask whether you are old enough to have first hand knowledge, I did do some poking around and the idea seems widespread, and thought to have its origin in the sacred nature of the triangle.

Something I didn't know! I always thought it was just a practical outcome of the unsafe nature of being below a ladder. Live and learn!

Thanks!

All the best,

Peter

I once thought the same thing. Furthermore I still make it a point not to walk under ladders... and it's not because I'm superstitious!

In my area of NC there are geese that never migrate. They have found a safe place to stay and they do not leave. They infest the work campus, poop over everything and can be quite aggressive. A coworker saw a goose flying after a guy on a motorcycle in the parking lot. I have had them come after me as I walked by.

One day, I left work and was driving home. Roads were packed with rush hour traffic and a goose waddled across the road like it owned it. Well, it did, because a car hit that goose and the feathers flew. Not really funny for the goose, or the owner of the car, which I am sure had some damage, but dang it, it was funny as heck seeing the goose go boom in a explosion of feathers.:ROFLMAO:😁 Could not believe how many feathers were on that bird. It really was an explosion of feathers.
I hit a wild turkey one time in the woods in my work truck. It flew into the windshield and cracked it, then bounced over the cab and into the truck bed. You can bet that bird was field dressed and plucked and went home with me. This did happen on a Friday, but I don’t remember the date.

I started buying ice cream bars because it is size proportioned and I don’t over do it.

I hit a turkey with my company truck years ago. It took out the headlight and grill. I was passing a car on the interstate when the turkey flew up out of the outside ditch, I never saw it until it was in my lane. It was like hitting a bowling ball at 75 mph.

I did NOT go back and play dodge the traffic to pick it up.

I did the same with my company truck maybe 15 years ago, except that it hit the windshield. I was over an hour from home, that was fun driving thru that windshield!
I didn't try to retreive it either for the same reason.

Wife and I were cruising down a back county rode on a motorcycle on the way to a state park. While in a tight right handed curve zipping downhill I saw a turkey on the opposite shoulder of the road. We were leaning hard and a farm truck coming from the other direction hit the turkey as it flew up. It pinwheels up and hits the bike on the side just behind the front wheel, with nothing to do but ride it out the back wheel bounces up over the now feather duster and the bike stayed upright. Momma was not pleased and we had $1800 damages to bike. Imported plastic is not cheap.
