I don't know John Deer, so I don't know what this is, but just in case anyone is interested... parts, project, lawn ornament, it just needs to be gone. Located in Humboldt, CA.

Possibly a 4000 series in the early 60's, but look for the serial number tag, not at the foundry cast numbers that are shown.
This link shows where the s/n and tag should be located (rear behind/below the seat), and includes some info on the series of tractors I refer to here.

Bottom line, turn in for scrap metal.

Probably locked up and full of rust anyway. I'd scrap it or part it out as people gobble up used JD parts, condition not with standing.

If that was a 4020 diesel, I'd drive out there to pick it up.

Seeing some similarity to this junker and the JD 4020 that is shown in this video of a 4020 being overhauled. Might help with your id problem.

3 pt parts, wheels, tires and steering parts would be easy enough to sell.

That tractor has some unique front weights. I don't remember seeing any weights made in Pampa, Tx before.

It's a 4010 diesel... any interest? I'm just helping a recently widowed woman get the property ready to sell, but I don't have the time to part something like that out.
