Canopy Free Canopy

I picked up this freeby Ford ranger truck cap off the internet this morning. I used the angle grinder with a cut off wheel and cut the top off it and am going to make a canopy out of it. I have to pick up some 1 inch square tube to build the frame out of but won't be able to get that until next Friday. I hope winter holds off a bit longer.

Good idea... That thought has crossed my mind as well. I have no need for acanopy now, but if I did...

Well I have it mocked up disassembled and and now painted. I tried to put up some pictures as I was going but for some reason (explornet?)
or not I could not get the pictures to load. I will try again.

Reminds me of how my friends '31 Buick looks... Chop top... Low roof!

I guess as long as your head has enough room, it should work great. Alot of ROPS are too all anyway. Alot more shade area than mine, for sure.

I had to keep it low enough to get in the 7' 3" garage door opening and it fits my 5' 10" stature well. I cut away the sides of the canopy to give a little more head room getting in/out.

Finished, came in just under $80 for metal and paint.

Looks good. I'm sure you will enjoy the shade it provides, as well as not getting soaked if you get caught in the rain.

Totally understand the low garage door issue. We bought a house in town a few years ago as a rental (long term) and a place to live (short term, 1 year). Had a detached garage with a short garage door, so low I couldnt get our vehicles inside. Ment doing oil changes, brakes, etc in the gravel, outside. I had plans to add hight to the garage, but would have no return on investment as a rental. Glad we moved when we found our farm.
