Was poking around the used tractors this morning and came upon a 1630 that caught my interest. When I put my hand on the amber light attached to the rops it gave a bit. I thought it was defective but after a short investigation it turned out to be a feature. The lamp was attached to the mount via 2 small spring loaded cables (one on each side) which allowed the lamp movement front to back/back to front.. You could actually push the lamp to nearly 90deg and have it snap back again! WOW. I wonder why they dropped this feature???? I sure seems handy to keep lamps from getting snapped off.

AMEN! Sure sounds like a good aftermarket item. Both of my ROPS lights have been knocked off their pegs so many times they just easily drop back onto the knurled pegs. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'd buy a breakaway light like that in a heartbeat if I could find them for something less than half the national debt. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Are you saying that these will fit the newer Boomers as long as the mount pt is the same?

My TC25D, purchased in 2001, has 'breakaway' amber lights. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Interesting! So it wasnt that long ago that they were dropped. Have you found this feature useful? I think its a pretty neat and not unlike the motorcycle signal lamps on flexible arms. I wished they hadnt dropped it. However, it appears that they can be put on newer tractors...I suppose.

Not really, but then I don't spend too much time in brushy areas. The one time I got too close to an arbor vitae hedge, the breakaway light, broke off. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
