Fransgard 4000 winch tensioner Fix?

From what I see online the tensioner on this winch is way gone. I don稚 know the dimensions of the worn piece.
Any fix ideas?

You might want to attach a picture so that we can see what's going on. On my old V2800 there was a flat metal bar with a piece of organic brake material against the drum to keep it from free wheeling. Tension was from a heavy spring that held it in place. Is that what you are referring to? If so is the entire piece missing or just the organic piece? I replaced the latter with a piece of hornbeam cut to fit; I would make a new piece every couple of years.

I see what you're talking about now. What I was calling a tensioner is referred to as a brake in the link that you provided. You are right, that is worn. there was another rounded piece welded to it, and originally looked like a "d". The other piece of iron which applies the tension would have been about 1 1/2 inches at it's deepest point.

You have the spring? If so just make a half moon shaped piece you might see how thick it should be. It's quite rugged so it don't need any very nice finish.

It should ride on the roller on the chain, roller might not be the correct word but you might understand what I mean.

I think this will work and it's almost the right color!
