North Cackelacky...FINALLY.
Tractor
None right now...
Went by the local dealer to see what was there on used tractors,we got to talking and he showed me the above tractor.

It came from another dealer, the paint is faded badly on the hood, but it is new,has 4 hours on it and would have the 5 year powertrain warranty.

He would also be willing to take our old MF 40 industrial in on trade, although that is another issue(what is our tractor worth...).

The price he gave me was just under $10,000...from looking online other dealers are selling 2010 3825 models with a 6' rotary mower for $9999,so he might need to adjust his price some.

So...what do y'all think,is this a worthwhile deal?

Some of the benefits would be to be done with our 40+ year old worn out Massey and have a powertrain warranty as well as a dealer close by.

Downside is the tractor has no power steering,no loader(Massey does, although not that useful in it's present state due to some 'farmer engineering') and is four years old.

Thanks.

Okay went back this morning, and actually drove the 3825 as well as a 4025...

Didn't really mind the 3825 not having power steering, although the 4025 having power steering meant a loader could be added in the future.

The difference in price was about $1300 or so.

Also drove an old MF135 and have to say, that the difference between modern tractors and old ones is night and day,the clutch pedal on the MF was horrible just to try and push in(well actually down..).The MF135 was $6500...

So $6500 for a 40 year old tractor with power steering.
Just under $10,000 for a new(but sun faded) tractor without power steering.
Or $11,000+ for a new shiny tractor with power steering.

Reward your self if you can stand the notes...Newer equipment is very nice when you need it..If you buy the new one, be sure you at least have a shed for it. Loaders are great for tractors too..

I agree about newer,it was basically like driving a truck or car.

We need a shed for sure, had a nice one but the addition took that away.

As to a loader, just can't swing the cost,$4000 or so on top of the price is too much.

see what avalible used. I bought an AGCO/CAT Challenger MT275(40.1hp turbo diesel) 4x4 loader power steering shuttle shift with 5' bush hog. for $10,500.00 only 300hrs on it. It was a big upgrade from my 1950 8N

Avoid a tractor without power steering like the plague. Most people won't touch one with a 10ft pole, its a massive strike in resale value. I'm kinda shocked anyone actually even makes one.

Well,I think it is strange too...I remember Farm Trac did the same thing...not sure who exactly such a tractor is aimed at...

Thanks for this.

Mahindra did offer this tractor as a super basic value tractor. And as a replacement for a 8N or similar, it did a good job at a good price and was not offered with a loader due to the manual steering. It was a simple reliable tractor.

Having said that, in our North American market in this day and age, every tractor should have power-steering in my opinion. Mahindra discontinued this model a few years back, seeing that the market for a similar tractor with power-steering far outshines a tractor with manual steering. Mostly because so many tractors of this size are either sold with a loader or a loader is desired later on. It did not make a lot of sense to keep this in the line-up.

Even so, if you find a new one that has been hiding out somewhere and you do not need a loader, strike up a bargain on it and put it to work.

Well, the dealer isn't really dealing on the price, says it retails for around $10,000 and he is willing to sell it for $9700...

That's a deal that I would LOVE to find. I've been looking hard for a similar used tractor and that would be listed around here for well over $15k.
