Found this in the trap this Morning....

I can tell when to set the the trap....the dogs begin an inordinate amount of sniffing in all the telltale places. Set the trap last night and this long nosed rascal was in it this am. He was relocated without incident and will live to find another meal...about 2-1/2 miles from here. I have relocated so many I've lost count.

There you go lettin a perfectly goood dinner go ! Around here the local resterants will pay for a goood road kill critter !

I relocate them to a burn pit behind the barnyard. . . after I put a .22 bullet between his eyes.

Thread brought back old memories. Years ago had a similar trap out back behind house with slightly larger slots in cage. Almost every morning at daybreak had to go out back and "handle" what I caught in it overnite. Had problems with mine cause on occasion smaller animals would get there heads stuck between cage wires and would be very ticked off when I went to check cage. Originally set it up to catch and relocate very large bobcat which was having a fieldday around here. Never did catch or see it again. Only got coons,possums,skunks and on one occasion a neighbors big ole black cat. Which before I released him unharmed I got my boys when they where small and told them it was a "black panther". Which I actually seen one here on property years ago. Eventually got fed up with trap and sold it to a friend. More trouble than what it was worth, it was like shooting fish in a barrel ,turned into a job. One animal we have an abundance of around here and see daily and enjoy are lots of rabbits .

Imagine going into a dark pump house...middle of the night...crouching down and stepping over the tile to settle in to do some work...only to hear a scratching sound. Shine the light and there is that smiling possum right beside you.

You may be right, but there is a lot of roads, fences, dogs, shotguns and female opossums between my place and where I left him. I'll take my chances.

Hmmm reminds me of of the times I would shoot a rattle snake at my hunting camp. My friends asked me "you gonna eat him"?
I said "nope" " You want him"?
They would say "No thanks...how come you're not gonna eat him"?
I would say " Cause I ain't that hungry".
Sooooo..... I guess...... I'm just not that hungry.
