So on and off though out the summer I've been cleaning up and pushing stumps that was dumped here 6 years ago. Yesterday I decided to dig in my pit and build up a small camper pad at one edge of the pit. This evening after dinner I was shaving a bank, and opened up (found) a nice vein of pin gravel. Mostly 1/4" to 3/8' sharp rocks, part of a glacial moraine deposit from eons ago.
I have no idea how far it goes but I'm topping the camper pad with some for now, and will be using several yards where we park our cars.
I can finally DIG now that I found my loader (lifting) issue. Someone put new seals in the cylinders and the right side apparently wasn't pre-lubricated before installing. (mechanic to me that)
Sorry for no pictures, but it was dark when I came in and didn't have the phone with me.
