Found a great use for pallet forks

/ Found a great use for pallet forks #11
For the last couple of weeks I've been using my pallet forks a lot to unload stuff from my trailer. They have bee great for picking up thing, but also hanging a chain from to lift awkward items.

The other day when I was driving home, I saw a couple of stumps on my place from the road that have been sitting there for over a year. I tried to pick them up with my grapple, but couldn't ever get a good grip on them. Too round, too big, and too heavy. So I got to wondering if the pallet forks would slide under them and pick them up. They did!!!!!

To some, this might seem silly. But for me, it was an AH HA moment. I just wish I would of though of using them years ago. There is a point when a stump becomes a big challenge to get to the burn pile. The pallet forks are game changers!!!

Congratulations! I know of a number of Power-Trac owners use the forks this way.

I used to use the forks to uproot problem trees or shrubs all the time. It is my preferred way to kill off poison oak. I would slide the forks under the poison oak shrub, lift six inches or a foot until I could hear the main roots snap, and then leave it for a year to dry out and the sap to decay. I could then brush hog the poison oak safely.

For benign shrubs like elderberry, I would just pop the side roots and then lift the root ball out. (I'm a fan of elderberry; we just had a couple growing under the barn eaves.)

I think once you have forks, you realize all of the things that you can do easily, l8ke moving heavy objects, loads of hay, etc. I think that forks are an attachment that doesn't get much PR, but are quite useful.

All the best,

Peter

My pallet forks are one of my most used tools for transporting "this thing" to "that place". Also use them to dig up bushes and shrubs, stones, concrete pads, etc. (y)

Great for putting roots back in too, I just have to watch weight since these are clamp-on.

Pallet forks with a basic thumb grapple can perform most of the tasks full clam shell grapples can without the added expense of a full grapple...

If you have a front loader, you NEED pallet forks! So handy.

I took my old chain on round tine forks ( from the Ford 3000) and have them set up for the Ford backhoe since I have the rhino converted to quick attach for the pallet fork attachment

It makes the Ford 550 more versatile. Had I had them converted before I moved this stump there would have been no need to chain it to the bucket

I didn't try but doubt the Rhino with grapple would have picked up this stump , the TLB has a LOT more FEL lift power
Grapples are handy but so are forks
