Sure, but this discussion is about one coyote in particular, with some hope we may be curious enough to want to know more about her and other ones. It's not a human study.

It's more accurate to say they are predictable, given the environment, than it is to say they are un-predictable given the environment.

Simple question what would any supposedly domesticated caged animal do if the gate was left open? I'd love to see what the yote in this instance would do. Since we've heard so much about the ridiculous yote utopia it's been doomed to.

Of course there’s times when my dog wants to go outside and play and we won’t let him. When we do let him out he always comes back. It must not be that bad.

This is so obvious that it doesn't need to be re-stated. So what? Is there anyone who doesn't know this? The interesting point of this thread is how a coyote responds to care by people, not how a dog can be abused. And I'm not proposing anything. Just interested in learning. It's OK if you're not interested.

I would guess that there are a LOT of people that have no clue that teathering a dog 24/7 increases the chances that it will show aggression. I'd guess half the people in my county chain their dogs 24/7.

As far as learning, I would guess unscientifically that the earlier the age you take a coyote in as a pup, the greater the odds that you can socialize it to a "domesticated standard" (per my previous post about Wiley from Wisconsin).

I get it, perhaps a coyote CAN be domesticated. By the same token, I'm also guessing to some extent, ANY animal can be "domesticated".... This Family Lived With A Real Lion Back In 1971 | Bored Panda

If I found a wild animal newly born, knowing it's mother was dead, I would try to find a licensed/state sanctioned rehabilitation center to take the animal in.

Heck, DNR caught a lot of flack for killing some pet deer a few years ago. Long story short, with some animals, it's illegal to keep as pets.

That said, I do respect what you did and can completely understand why you did it.

I've raised many dogs over the years and none ever tried to escape. They always go with me. LMAO!
If a cage is so good, ask someone in the pen if they'd rather be on the outside.
Or open up the pathetic, stress free, yote utopia gate and watch what happens.
