When we bought this place last March, we found 2 very old farm machines. The first, attached, looks to have some of that famous Green paint on it, although I haven't looked close enough to find the famous moniker that might go with it. Could even be 'Oliver' ...

I'm sure someone here can identify this with more precision (plow). I'm planning on pulling it out of the overgrowth sometime soon and just taking a wire brush to it and perhaps a coat of oil, then find a nice spot on the acreage for it to be gazed upon.

The second machine (it's a hayer I think) attached in the next post, will get the same treatment.

I also have an old horse drawn single bottom plow and a hay dump rake. I have found it difficult to find information on this old equipment. I did buy a book from amazon.com titled "Encyclopedia of American Farm Implements and Antiques" that gives a lot (I mean a LOT) of pictures of old horse drawn farm equipment. I had no idea there was so much. However, there was so much of this old stuff made, the book cannot give a whole lot of information on individual manufactures and models.

If you thought your plow or hay rake were made by John Deere the folks at Green Magazine http://www.greenmagazineonline.com/ can often identify equipment by the numbers cast in the parts. Those are real nice pieces.

I thumbed thru my "Encyclopedia of American Farm Implements and Antiques" last night. There are a number of 2 bottom plows shown from several different manufacturers. The book speaks of Oliver's many plows but did not have a picture of a 2 bottom. LaCrosse also made plows and painted them green. From the color pictures, it seems green was popular for plows and red for hay rakes.
