Im sure this is covered somewhere but i cant seem to locate it. I would like to find something i can use to keep track of all my vehicles maintainance records on. Something i can download on my computer that i can list all my vehicles and dates and types of routines performed on them. I guess a type of spread sheet, but keeping in mind im not a rocket scientist. Well i might have been one years ago,,ha ha!

Like you, I'm sure such forms exist, but I don't know where. I developed my own spreadsheets for our car and pickup.

no time like the present to learn. Excel is an easy to learn program at least to get started. And it is the most suitable for what you need to do.don't be intimidated by it just think of it as a simple piece of paper on the left hand side for instance let's put all of your vehicles and on the top put the maintenance things that need to be done and just fill in the blanks. You can do it.

of course there are apps for smartphones if you have one of those either Android or iOS

Excel should do it for you. Good luck.

I'd upload an Excel spreadsheet but TBN doesn't support .XLS files.

If you want to do this online, check this out:

I haven't used it, but it appears to be free - you might just have to put up with some product emails from them.

As others have said...excel. It's the easiest yet most powerful, adaptable..insert adjective here...program there is.

I work with it daily, have for 20 years. The neat thing about excel, if you can think it or picture it - you can make it.

If you need some help getting started, send me a PM. I'd be glad to help.

I prefer a 3-ring binder with the manual and periodic maintenance instructions, because I can bring it with me and make notes. My maintenance are has dirt flooring and direct solar lighting, so not suitable environment for a laptop, although I can definitely see using a smart phone app for record keeping. Actually, it would be pretty awesome to have an app that generates maintenance tasks and a shared calendar that you can integrate with your regular calendar. Since tractor maintenance is pretty much all by number of hours it runs it will not be automatic except for the annual/bi-annual tasks. Hmm - how to integrate an hour-data logger with wifi? They offer this on big trucks and service vehicles to optimize performance, but I imagine such a fleet management system will be pretty pricey. I'm meeting with someone who runs a fleet management automation company tomorrow, so I'll ask what it would take. A smartphone app is good because you can take pictures for your records.

I agree with excel.

I made where I used to work to keep track of the forklifts. I used a "sheet" within the same workbook for each truck. There are also math functions so you make so when you enter the hours or miles or whatever, it will automatically tell you when the next service is due. It's very simple to use, but for some reason the other guys in the shop must have thought I was some kind of computer genius to be able to create this.
