I found the comment about hitting the 7-eleven for batteries and bottled water interesting. Here in East-Central MO we get cravings for bread and milk when the snow is coming.

Here in N.E. Ohio it is Bread, Milk, and Toilet paper that people hoard during snow storms. Those are the first three things to completely disappear from the store shelves. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Sat. morning. 20 degrees and overcast. The calm before the storm. 10" of snow and 35mph winds are predicted. I've seen on the morning news its already snowing south of New Jersey, most air travel has been cancelled, plow trucks were stuck in PA and the grocery and hardware stores are being ravaged. Well the larder's full, the tractor fueled, some water set aside just in case the power goes down and the pump won't run, put a couple loads of wood in by the stove and got the champagne and shrimp for New Years just in case. This is more exiciting than y2k last year. I guess all there is to do now is wait./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

DFB, 20 degrees way up north? Heck, it's 18 here in the middle of Texas with a heavy frost./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But at least the sun's coming out and no wind so far today.

The Dallas Morning News says this has been the 5th coldest December on record (since 1898). Average daily temperature 11 degrees below normal.

DFB, sounds like your all set. I saw the scene you described on the news. Almost all of them standing in the checkout line had a snow shovel or two.
Bird, 28 here this morning, suppose to get up to 57. According to the local weathermen, we had the second coldest November in this areas history.

Well the storm seems to be over. Don't really know how much yet. Thomas how are you doing there. Folks back home got buried in white stuff. Oh yea, power only went out once.

DFB,
Around 4am just little over 8 inches and since than pick up about another inch and now its scatter snow.

The wind starting to come up so that means extra work....just more seat time. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

If I recall the Sebago area can be a snow belt for sure, for I seen times when I left Naples w/4" of snow went thru East Sebago to Gorham and about half way thru the snow has double.

Is the Jordan General Store still in business or have they sold out...darn good folks there! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
Also is the"Keg" pub restaurant still in bussiness...good place to relax. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Stay safe up there and I hope you don't get anymore power bumps.

Thomas, I'm not to familiar on the names. Are they on the south end of the lake or up in Naples. I measured all of 8" out in the yard. Well getting light out. Got to get started sometime. I think I'll have another cup of coffee first./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

DFB,
Just this side of Naples of East Sebago about a half mile from the Sebago dump..if the dump is still there.

I just looked at the forcast and they're predicting 1-2" of snow in South Alabama tonight. Holy Cow! This is Serious! I just bought that tractor and a bunch of implements but the one I didn't get was a snow plow. Just my luck.

I wen't and bought Beer and frozen pizza and batteries for the remote after reading some of the posts above. Might as well be prepared I say.

Happy New Year!

No, no, DGB, you just set the beer out on the porch and it'll stay cold./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Now the pizza and TV's another matter./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bird, that works here for sure. Don't really know how cold its gets down in 'bama./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

DFB, I see I hit the "G" instead of the "F" on this keyboard on the last post. I don't know how cold it'll get in 'bama either, but it's 30 degrees here and just started snowing a tiny bit, so that would keep the beer cold enough./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
