I figure that a Recall requires that it go back to the dealer and left there for service.
Updates can be much simpler.

Yes but the article above pushes Tesla to the top or near the top of the Recall list, when in reality very, VERY few of their recalls actually results in a trip to a service center, less than 1%, over 99% were done over the air.

for 2024:screenshot data from

Tesla dominates 2024 with 99% of recalls resolved via OTA updates.

Fords recalls this year alone will have over three million vehicles needing to go to a service center. Looks like about one million will be addressed by OTA.

A Tesla wouldn't be much use in our rural area. But I will say that a number of our friends who live in the suburbs and city have bought them and they sure do like their Teslas.

Funny how we’re talking trucks and RAM is a truck brand. Stellantis is not a truck brand. Stellantis is a company that owns Ram, yet directly builds ZERO trucks.

So if Ram gets great reviews building trucks, which they do, just being owned by the Stellantis ownership conglomerate makes Ram a bad brand? 🤣

So like if I look up “RAM” as a brand or “Dodge” as a brand and the results from JD Power result is offered Ram is #1 (and Dodge #2) what impression does one get compared to other truck brands like Ford & Chevy/GMC?

Maybe Stellantis gets poor marks overall because of other brands they own (like Chrysler, Maseratti, Lancia, Opel, Vauxhall, etc), but it sure as hell ain’t Ram or Dodge causing the problems. At least not in this survey.

“Ram” is a stand alone brand, and has been for 13 years.

Ram has really went downhill lately then. JD Power now rates them 26th in 2025...ouch!

I use my model Y to haul all of our animal feed, except hay or alfalfa- and that is a great job for the RAM diesels with trailers.

It is funny we drive the two Cummins powered RAM HD's and the Tesla the most. My wife loves her RAM and has no interest in driving the Tesla. What we drive depends on what the trip is for.

If I needed a new truck I would buy another RAM diesel.

May be helping one grandkid find a Quadcab truck as well, wife lent her her 04 Cummins powered RAM and it ruined her :). In our local family group we have eight RAM trucks, all been pretty darn decent.

She now wants to sell her Wrangler and find a Cummins Powered RAM.

Yeah, that has happened, but that’s the information I was going off of when I bought mine.

My guess is Ram fell after the CP-3 pump recall/replacement.
Mine went flawlessly. It was a one-day loss of my truck and a loaner was provided.
The early CP 4 equipped diesel Fords are likely ticking time bombs after 120K miles. They can destroy even the cam and injection pump gears depending on how severe the failure is. 10-15K is not out of the question to repair at a dealership if not under some kind of extended warranty.

Nope not a fan of the CP4 injection pump. Inferior design to the CP3.

I Really Hope RAM is not going to a NEW CP4 (CP8) in 2026 Improved CP 4 ?

And Ford didn’t recall them. They have to fail before they will replace them.
Ram recalled them and replaced them.

I hope this CP 8 news is wrong about it being an improved CP 4. I also Hope Cummins says NO if it is an inferior pump.
