Ford Post Hole digger issue

I picked up a blue Ford post hole digger to use on my 9N and I got it onto the 3 point hitch only to find that the auger bit (also blue) doesnt fit . Looks like someone welded on a piece of pipe as a repair but it is about 2 or 3 millimeters to small. The ID measures in at 2 1/2 inches I.D. But I haven't been able to find another pipe the right size to fit the way I think it should. The closest thing I found is a post ram thing at tractor supply that I can cut up to use the pipe part of it. It doesnt seem that much bigger but it fits the digger kinda loosely ..... My question is how loose or how snug should it fit? The shear pin will keep it on but I dont think it should be too sloppy either..... Any suggestions are appreciated

My sheer bolt is on the PTO shaft side, not the auger bit. Are you saying the auger is too small to fit on the shaft for the auger?
