Ford NAA odd find and need advice.

My in laws NAA lift stopped working, so I picked it up and brought it to my house for repair. The clevis pin broke allowing the rod to fall out of the piston. Drained the reservoir and found what looks like a brand new seal in the bottom of the housing. It measures about 1.5" I.D. and about 2.4" O.D. It's an original Ford seal. Any idea where this should have been? What fluid should I go back with. It has the old style piston and I'm updating that.

Hmm.. there is a seal between the hyds and rear end sump that the pto shaft goes thru.

did you have the pto shaft out? If you still have the top cover off.. look where the pto shaft goes thru.. see if it is missing a seal.

Just pulled off the top cover, nothing else. I'll look shortly and see if the pto seal is in there.

Looks like that seal was never installed! It was just lying in the bottom of the case! Looks like I'll be splitting the tractor.

Wedged my phone down in the case.

I can't see your pic on my phone, however it was very likely installed, but got popped out when some overzealously removed and replaced the pto shaft at some point.

Normally they get busted and leak from pto shaft stabbing or just old age.
