I have an old Ford loader backhoe and am trying to find out the year. The numbers I have found are as follows:
Behind starter: C229994
On transmission: C5NN7006CD
On engine: 8K29A
Unit # 9B19B
D4011K
Then he wrote 400 SR
Can anyone tell me what year and model so I can buy manuals?

D4011A is the model code.

D....4000-series 1968-1975 models
40.....utility
1.......diesel
1.......no PTO
A.......4-speed

The 8k29a is a date code for the engine 1968 october 29th on night shift
9b19b is the transmission date code. 1969 February 19th, on dayshift

Any number like the C5NN****** is a ford part number
The C229994 is the serial number. Which makes it a 1969 model year TractorData.com Ford 4000 tractor information

No idea on what was "wrote" as 400sr
