Ford LGT 120?

I was wondering if the Ford LGT 120 was a good lawn tractor. I found one near by for $550 with a MMM and rear mounted rototiller. Is this a good deal? Are there any problems to be aware of with this tractor? I would really just get it for the tiller to till the garden but I could use the MMM to team up with my JohnDeere L118 in the summer.

That seems like a good deal to me. I paid $200 for a 1968 Ford 120 with two decks. It needed hydro tranny seals, but that was easy. The 120 is a lighter-built machine (by Jacobsen) than the later LGT series. They don't make them like that anymore! If it's in good operating order, I'd snap it up.

I have a Ford LGT145. It was made in 1974 the only reason I quit using it, the deck has litterly rusted into. If Ford/Jacobson still made them I would buy another one in a heartbeat. The only issue that I have had is the steering column crossshaft bolt broke. Had my snow plow on, put 3-75lb tractor weights on the blade to help it cut the dirt that I was moving around . Had that fixed by a local machinest. That was about 10yrs before I quit mowning with it, still use it to push snow

Just inherrited my Dad's 72 LGT120, which he bought and assembled it in 72. He (I mostly) mowed 4 acres, plowed snow, plowed, rottilled, and cultivated a 1/2 acre garden for 18 years. It got retired to just mowing in 91 till 95 when the deck rusted out. Used the tiller till 98. Sat till last summer. I cleaned the carb, changed the oil and it started right up. He taught me how to drive this thing. I have went through 4 garden tractors (one was a $3k JD) in 10 years. Plan on a full restore this winter and buld a new mower deck. The only work I remember him doing to it was a valve job.
