Ford Injector adjustment

I have a Ford 4600 that I put a fuel injector on this Spring for my brother. I borrowed the tractor this week and noticed it was smoking a little more than it should. At high RPMs, it does a pudmm - Pudmm sound. Which way would you turn the injector to adjust for this? is there a more technical way to adjust the timing on the injector than by sound?
