I just took possession of a Ford 3550 that was too good a deal to pass up on Craigslist. It came with a foot-high stack of service manuals, but nothing that gives basic operating info. I guess I'll have to search for an Operator's Manual. The tractor has a loader and 3PH but no PTO. It has lived outside it's whole life and it shows, but all of the basic systems work. The front kingpins are shot, and I'm not sure if a standard bushing job will be possible, but we'll see.

So for starters, my questions are what are the controls in the picture below? I'm at a loss. Is it possible to add a 3PH?

Here's the whole tractor:

lever to right of seat is hydrolic controles, forward and that would run 3pt and back runs front bucket. I have a 3000 with that lever but i do not have lever on left.

Lever to the right of the seat is the draft control/position control selector for the 3PT hitch.
Lever to the left of the seat is the parking brake.
Adding a PTO would be somewhere between expensive and impractical; can't tell more without knowing more. I'm asuming the hydraulic pump supplying the 3PT is in the rear axle center section and not driven off the camshaft and mounted on the left rear corner of the engine?

I have no idea about the pump for the 3PH. I wouldn't have guessed about the parking brake, the regular brakes lock just like on an ag tractor. I'll play around with the lever to the right, the loader and 3PH both work at the same time with it in it's present position. I kind of thought adding a PTO was a pipe dream. I don't have too much to complain about for $900. ;)

$900? How do you sleep at night?
And how did you and Gregg make out with the 273 today?

Ha ha, I've spent my whole life being that guy who never gets a deal on anything, I'm due. I guess I won't mention the 7' heavy duty scraper blade in great shape I just picked up tonight for $150, lol.

Greg is coming tomorrow, but I'm a little concerned about the forecast. :(
