Ford Flail 907 Driveshaft

Does anyone have the specs for the driveshaft for a 5 foot Ford Flail 907, as far as length etc. I'm thinking 1-3/8" spline both ends, but no idea on length. Of course I bought this mower, and it had no driveshaft !

Hook it up to your tractor and get your tape measure out. Go buy a generic metric Series 4 driveshaft with the appropriate implement end yoke and 1-3/8"-6 tractor end yoke of a suitable length. Cut to the exact length you need.

It needs to have a slip joint,correct. how do I measure where the slip should be and with mower up, down, should I run an override coupler ?

A complete replacement PTO shaft will be a telescoping shaft. Measure shaft to shaft with the mower fully raised and fully lowered. Usually but not always the longer measurement will be with the implement raised. You want a minimum of 6" of overlap at the longest point and some room for the shaft to collapse a bit more at the shortest length.
Do a search for "measuring and cutting a PTO shaft" there are a bunch of videos.
I wouldn't run an ORC on a flail mower, there isn't enough inertial energy to concern me.

I agree with Rick, no need for an orc on a flail, and most newer tractors have them built-in to the pto drive.
