Aaron nailed it.

Our budget makes us "crawlers". Bouncers have more dollars in their engines than we have in our buggies. :)

Thanks to you and Aaron, I have been educating myself a little more and agree, I would be a bouncer. I love my mud, but this looks like it would fun too.

ovrszd,

Since you are Jeep guy, here is a video you might like. This is a friend and the jeep is built to run hill & hole which is a different type of mud racing then I normally do. No one got much of any air time off the jumps that day, but there a some video on the tube where they do.

Sorry to the OP, I'm getting off topic again.

The gain with IFS is the creature comfort feeling. The loss is significant offroad loss.

That's what the buyers of the last versions that wanted to wheel them disliked. Jeep gained a lot of those owners.

Lol, Jeep just got smart enough in the past few years to use IFS on the Grand Cherokee. You can do some serious offroading with a Wrangler and the Dana 30 front diff:laughing: Some ultra 4 trucks are IFS.

Ford is also going to make a hybrid Mustang and F-150.

They do have a lot of new things in the works for trucks. Diesel F150. Hybrid F150. Ranger. Bronco. And all that following a new F150, new engines choices, a new 10 speed transmission, a new Raptor, and a new Superduty. With vehicle sales on a downward trend and gas prices predicted to be the highest in years, I wonder how that will affect their future plans.

"Jeep", being a brand rather than a model, over the years has built more models with IFS. No intent with those models to create offroad prowess. No need to when they already have that market captured with the solid front axle Wrangler and more specifically the "Rubicon" version.

I wheeled a Dana 30 running 35" tires for 15 years with minimal breakage.

Wow, that orange keep has serious cojones! When these crawlers flip or fall on one side what happens w the engine oil? Engine toast, or some separate tank to provide a few secs of oil supply? Sorry about the topic breach.

When us "crawlers" get off our wheels it's usually not very damaging. Most of our play areas are short steep climbs. I've been on my side dozens of times and about 50% of the time can get back on my wheels if I act quickly. Been on my top half a dozen times. Worst wreck was over backwards falling about 50 feet vertically landing on my top, then on over standing on the grill, twisting 45 degrees and falling another 30 feet landing on drivers side on flat rock. That left a mark.

For an idea of what the "bouncers" do, watch a few youtube videos. There wrecks are very violent.

Yes, flopping on your side displaces engine oil. Severity depends on how long you stay there and which side you are on. Generally not a big deal. Smokes for a couple minutes til it cleans up. :)

Anytime you want to come play with us, let me know. Everywhere on my farm has easy bypass trails. We have rigs of all shapes and sizes that wheel there. :)

Appreciate that! I would love to one of these days, if nothing else just to ride along and watch.

So, would my Super Duty make it through, without scratching the paint? :)
