Ford Blue = Old New Holland Blue?

I recently bought some blue paint from my local TSC store. It is labelled Ford/New Holland Blue. I painted a toolbox to mount on my tractor (an LS model) which I think is painted the New Holland Blue color since LS builds tractors for NH. The paint I used is a different shade of blue color than the tractor.

Same color. The purchase agreement that specified dropping the Ford name also required a color change.

Ford And New Holland only used one shade of blue up until Dec 31, 1999. After that, New Holland only used one shade of blue, often called new blue. Genuine New Holland paint has the date ranges of the two blues (and most other colors) right on the container. Anyone having specific part numbers for additional shades of OEM blue colors can chime in. I'm willing to be educated. Photographic "evidence" doesn't count. Until then, I'm saying there are two blues and that's it. Ford / New Holland dealership employee since 1996.

Yep your still right. I have owned several of these tractors and had them parked side by side in my barn. Only two colors. Ford blue and new holland blue 2000 and later. When NH completely separated they had to change colors. That being said there has always been some very slight variation lot to lot in paints. Maybe what others have seen is this slight variation but as mentioned its only slight.

I can't agree with this. After the beginning of the 90s they have used three shades of blue.
First was the Ford blue. The old one from the 60s. It was like this:

In 1995 they stopped using the Ford logo on the front.
Colors were also changed. Engine, axles and transmission were now painted black. Blue was also different. It was much like the color of blueberry.

The difference can be seen very clearly. The color was used for a few years. TS-series was the last one to use it.

In 2003 they changed the blue again. This blue is still used today.

Not quite. My 1997 1720 is clearly the old blue. Tinwork, castings, engine, and everything except the rear fenders and wheels are old blue.

You know I was thinking more about this last night. I've owned a lot of these old Fords over the years. One of which was a 1998 Ford NH 3930. Most people don't realize it but both the 98 and 99's had more hp than the previous versions. They used the old 192 and turned up the juice a bit. All 3930's had 45pto hp until 98 then they jumped them up to 52. The serial plate under the hood even listed the engine hp for these tractors which is not the case for the older Fords. To verify this I even ordered the Nebraska test results for this tractor. Everyone said I was crazy so I had to prove it. LOL! I knew it had to be stronger as it would run a HD 6' brush hog like no ones business. This tractor was different in another way too as the chassis was painted a dark grey color. Now here's the strange part. I needed to touch up the blue paint one day so went to my local NH dealer. I had always thought it was a slightly different blue (not much but a little) so assumed it had a different color than the old Ford Blue but my dealer said no there was only two blue's available. Not wanting to make the drive back I bought both cans. As it turned out the Ford blue was pretty close but didn't seem exact. However, the NH blue was way off. I know for sure that companies have had to change formulations due to EPA requirements etc so I've just always assumed there was a slight change that wasn't officially called a change. Anyway food for thought. Not sure exactly what the reason was but maybe this is what your seeing with the different blues. I find all this stuff interesting for sure and love to hear others comments and thoughts. By the way the tractor was like new and only had 150 or so hours when I bought it. Even had hydrostatic steering which was a nice improvement over hydraulic.

Here is a picture of New Holland 7740 and an unknown series 10 Ford. Series 40 was replaced with TS series in 1997 so this unit is definitely made in the 90s. This confirms that color didn't change in 2000.

How so? Both tractors were produced before 2000. According to New Holland Paint Chart, FORD TRACTOR BLUE was used from 1965 - 2000, and NEW HOLLAND TRACTOR BLUE was used from 2000 onward.

Edit. Are you saying the two tractors differ in color? If so, any difference isn't that noticeable to my eye. How much difference, if any, is due to differences in fading over time?
