With the recent price increases on trucks I'm starting to wonder if my penchant for trying to get an F250 at (what I consider) a decent price is futile.
Since my wife agreed we needed a new truck I had focused on Fords due to the no rust body in my rust prone environment (Mississippi).
But with ~ a $10K difference in price I'm wondering if diligent rust prevention could make up the difference.

In all my years in the automotive world, I have never seen an effective rust prevention protocol with any after market add on including spraying the wax solution in doors.
WD40 worked just as good if one didn’t mind spraying it every quarter or so.
The chassis was protected just as well with a spray can of paint.
Nothing I’ve seen here in the n.e. Was really effective in rust prevention except trading in your vehicle very 5 years or so.

same here.... treatments seem to delay a few years but the inevitable seems to happen and even the most diligent ends up looking the same as those who ignore.

I use old motor oil on battery trays to stop rust, much easier than prep and paint, and more effective. Lasts a long time too. Maybe use clean oil to spray the body?

Keep in mind that aluminum 'rusts' as well. Not called rust however, called oxidation and repairing acute oxidation will be much more costly than repairing a steel body.

Having said that. I'd take a (removed) over a dodge anyday. At least Ford is an American owned company. Stellantis (Dodge Ram) isn't. Besides, the Ram trucks are made in Mexico.

My 2014 RAM CTD with over 180k has no "cancer," and I live in the Mid-Atlantic. Rinse after driving on salt roads and use Black Star on the frame. The repair cost of an aluminum body is through the roof. The oxidation issues would drive me nuts!

I'd rather have a rusty Ram than a Furd.

Rust doesn't usually keep a vehicle from starting and running.
Thought Moss had a sticky about corrupting names.
And I agree it doesn't keep a vehicle from starting and running. But in many states it will fail an inspection.

Luckily, or careful driving, I've avoided needing any body repair since my 1967VW needed repair in 1973.
Have you tried other rust converters?
