I just purchased a 9n and it needs a water pump. It looks like this hood is in two parts. the grill and the back part that covers the gas tank and instrument cluster.

Can the front part be taken off separately to allow access for radiator removal.

In my experience, it's not possible. You have to drain the tank, disconnect the fuel line, take off the hood/gas tank, grille and side panels. It's really not too hard. Soak all the nuts and bolts in penetrating oil the night before.

the grill most assuredly is a seperate part.

when you take the lower doglegs loose.. you can remove the grill.

yOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE HOOD AND FRONT GRILL TOGETHER AS ONE PIECE. Remove the two lower bolts in each side of grill below radiator. Disconnect fuel line from gas tank. Disconnect the four screws in instrument panel to hood. Remove the radiator cap. Get help-- you will need it. Lift the entire assembly off the radiator and tractor and set aside. The radiator will be in front of water pump, but you should have enough room to get to it for removal and replacement. Soak the bolts in the pump with penetrating oil and let sit overnight. Use caution to remove. You may want to replace the bolts with newer ones after removal. I recommend coating the new bolts with anti-sieze compound. It might be a good idea to replace points in the distributor while you have it open.

All you people saying the frotn grill is integral to the hood.. have you ever worked on an N before?

the grill is a seperate part that can be removed once you get the hood unbolted and limbered up. get the grill out of the way, then lift the hood/gastank/dog legs off as an assy.. Both the early and late 9n doglegs ( with and without external bolts will do this... )
