I recently replaced the hydraulic lift control valve on my ford 9N tractor. I pushed the valve assembly into the hole in the pump below the pressure relief valve. It did not slide in easily. Now the lift raises slowly but stays in the up position. Any advice?
Should the control valve slides easily in and out? I sure appreciate any advice.

Yes. It should slide easily. There should be no resistance.

Take it back out. So.etching didn't go together right.

Not sure if the 9n is the same as an 8n, and not sure I remember right, but i think there is a small hole/slot that the lever has to fit into. If you were outside that, it may move one way, but not being "engaged" would cause it to not move the other way.

I honed out the port, the valve slides easily and the lift works great. Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond with your suggestions.
