Ford 771 front loader can not pick the front wheels of a 1974 ford 3000.

Hi, my name is Ben, im 21. I recenty purchased a 1974 ford 3000 gas with 8speed transmission. It came with the orginal manuals, a ford 771 front loader, bale spearand front bumper for 4500 everything works fine, other than needing to replace the dual servo brake shoes and brake drum. I replaved 3 hydralic 3/8 hoses on the front of the loaders on the bucket hydralic. But the loader does not seem to be powerful enough to pick up the front
wheels off the ground. Everything works but when i lower the bucket it seems to fall like theres is not any resistance to slow it down. Idont know if thats normal. Can you give me any ideas?

Also is this loader too small for the size of this tractor? I know its one of the 3 loaders that that is the smallest from the other two models 772 and 730. Im going to be using the loader alot.

I'd start by measuring the hydraulic pressure the pump can produce, both at idle and higher rpm. Then you'll know what you have to work with. I'm not familiar with your particular tractor, sorry.

I forgot to respond yesterday. You say it falls like there's no resistance and won't pick up the front wheels. This sounds like it's in float position. If the bucket is on the ground and you roll the bucket to dump, does it lift the tractor or lift the boom arms of the loader or nothing? If you have an accessory valve with float, they usually go into float when pushing past the normal down position on the valve. Are there upper and lower hoses going to the lift cylinders?

Check your hyd valve, it may have the bucket set da, and the boom, sa.

Also check the lift cyls, are the boom cyls sa?

Yes, the first thing i tried was rolling bucket on the ground and using it to lift the bucket to dump, and yes it does lift the boom arms which i thought wasn't supposed to be like that from my automotive care. where is this accessory valve usually located? I just brought a 5000 psi gauge need to set it up.. I just brought materials to build a rops so ive been busy and my summer classes are coming to the end. I also discovered that when i put the lift Cylinders up one side shot up fluid so i ordered both sides seal kits. To your question about the lift cylinders there is only a upper hose which makes me believe it can only go up unlike my bucket cylinders with two, unless the lift cylinder is a special type that i dont know of

Im think the lift cylinders are only single not double... :banghead: If the lift cylinder are are only single are u still able to use the bucket it pick up the tractor?...

Nope.. You will need da boom cyls, and a valve capable of it, which yours MAY be, might just have that spool in sa mode.
