Hello. I am currently working on the front pump for my Ford 703 loader. The tag numbers on the Vickers vane pump is V250 8 6D 12, on the second line is S49 LH. I just bought the loader, and the seller suggested changing the seal on the pump to ensure it didn't leak. When I took the front bearing cover off, it was missing a few balls. When I took the pump the rest of the way apart, it appears there has been no damage and everything seemed to be in good shape(other than that bearing of course). The previous owner thought there would be a leathery or rubber seal behind the bearing...but I couldn't find one other than the metal seal. This makes me wonder what would keep fluid from escaping through the front ball bearing.
Due to not knowing if we could get parts, we left the metal seal and back ball bearing in the pump. Upon checking with my local ford dealership, they could no longer get parts for this pump. I attempted to contact Vickers, they have since been sold to Eaton. Upon contacting Vickers-Eaton, they are having difficulty and have been unable to even get a seal kit for me. I have been trying to do research, and it sounds like the "Vickers V-20" is a similiar vane pump, but I am not sure if it is the same as far as getting parts for my pump. I was able to get a new bearing made through Motion Industries, but other than that have been unable to find any parts for this pump(even a seal kit).
So I am left with a few questions. First, does the pump have some sort of seal behind the first ball bearing other than the metal seal(I can't even find a blow-up diagram for a V250)?? Where could I get parts for this pump? Any information you all can give you would be greatly appreciate. I tried to attach some pictures to this message, hope that helps.
