Ford 7000

Hi

Does anyone have a Ford 7000?

Until fairly recently I did and I thought it was a great machine.

I have always been fond of blue tractors and while I never owned a 7000 I do have a 7710-II and my friend has a 7700. They are great tractors and were a lot of fun to farm with. I wish you the best and hopefully you find yourself another nice 7000 someday soon.

I've never named any of my tractors but Trevor seems appropiate for the blue Ford. Very enjoyable story, it's interesting to read how tractors are used in other countries.

Thanks for the kind words, re my Ford.

Some how my 7000 deserved a name, we have occasionally named a machine. Like Tiny the Acco 2150B 15 ton truck and Henry the Land rover. They have always been the older vehicles though.

Call me crazy but I think a machine gains a character after say 10-15 years of use when most of their ilk are at the wreckers. They have earned a name

My wife would agree with you on naming them. The Ford 4600 she learned to mow hay and to rake on was named "Wilbur". The JD 4020 was "Johnny" if it started. If it didn't or if the shifters jammed it was....well I can't post that here. The first MF that we picked up is of course named "Fergy" and the second (a 1433v) is named "Tiny Tots"..
Of course many of our cattle are named also.

Davo, nice story and that tractor is a beauty. Its amazing with all the turmoil in the world how we all share the same experiances.I've had my tractor stuck in the mud (swampy meadow) several times and had to pull it out with our 4x4 van. We can certainly get attached to a machine I could not do without my tractor. I hope you find another one. FRENCHIE
