I have a 6640S Ford with a 12 speed F and 4 R manual transmission. Last year the clutch was frozen and could no be put into gear. After some manual ministrations (in gear and pushing/pulling with the clutch pedal pressed) the clutch released. The tractor ran all season last year and never stuck again. This year the same thing has happened and it will not release. It does not matter if the hi/lo range shifter is in hi or lo. The clutching seems to be all manual on this tractor. Any ideas what would cause this. If this calls for a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing... what kind of work or specialized tools are required to perform this work.

Look in your owners manual, it should have information about stuck clutches and how to prevent them. When the tractor sits unused for a long period the clutch plates can stick togather. There is a way to unstick them without major repairs, It can be prevented from happening next year by using a block of wood to keep the clutch released while in storage. Refer to your manual. If you don;t have one or can't find it, post back and someone will provide the information for you. My manual is not available at this time but I can get to it later if needed,
