Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum and have recently acquired this 650. It looks to me like I have to take off the whole front axle assembly in order to change the belt. I have a sloppy loose front main pulley which I also need to look in to, because there is a front PTO shaft coming out of that through the center of the pivot pin. This shaft connects to the hydraulic pump of an ancient front end loader. Any help would be appreciated.

yep.. if you got a loader.. the drive shaft needs to be disconnected and slid back... but you don't have to take the axle or support off.

now.. if the crank pully is loose.. it's a 4-bolt job.. or is it the hub adapter for the loader pump drive that is wonky?

I had to take the whole axle off. The Main pulley was loose, and the front shaft was stuck. The shaft was splined, but the adapter was smooth so the splines looked like they were just wedged in. No way to pull the shaft out. Now I need to find another way to attach a shaft to the main pulley. I needed also to replace the front crankshaft seal. Would you use locktite on the main pulley bolt?

you can get new pump drives from the parts section at ytmag.. just match up what you need.

that's not an area i've used loctite..though I'm not specifically advising against it either...

I finally got my front oil seal. Should I use any type of goop to glue it in place?

never heard of using goop on a crankshaft seal.

I think you can get a neophrene seal.. as well as the older rope seals. rope seals need to be soaked inoil prior to use, and then trimmed just a lil proud at the mating ends..

there is a chinese-finger-cuff tool you can use to roll the new seal in :)

REALLY reccomend you get a service manual!
