Just looking for a little info on this. I'm looking into purchasing a used 445c with about 1800hrs on it and it is a very clean machine but the PTO won't disengage. I believe the transmissions on these machines have a torque converter and a separate clutch system for the PTO so I think the clutch plates are stuck together for the PTO. Any ideas on a cost to repair this IF the plates dont come unstuck by running an implement (harley rake, brush hog) for a time to try and jar it loose?

It will take a rear split to replace the PTO brake pawl, re-seal the clutch and possibly replace the clutch platers and discs. Parts cost cna be estimated by checking new Holland dealers with online pricing such as Partspring and Messick's.

Labor costs? Who knows? Will you be DIY, hiring a dealership or other professional shop, or giving cash to a 'shade tree mechanic'?

Thanks for the info Rick. Thats kinda what I thought it would take to repair it. The dealer that has it sold it to the guy that owns it now and they are only asking $7000.00 for it, witch I think is a good deal, it also has an 8' Harley Pro rake that needs a new bottom roller but considering a new rake cost around 7g's and i could get the whole package for that a repair costing 2g's or less may be worth it.

I'd be more scared of the cost of the Harley parts than the tractor's PTO.

you got that right, the bottom roller is 1500 beans. I may just weld some strips of hardened steel to it instead.

Do you think the pto clutch has failed or do you think its just stuck together??

The brake pad is probably worn out. Doesn't matter much, it will need to be split to fix it.
