Ford 445 won't go in reverse

My Dad's 1983 Ford 445 now suddenly won't go into reverse. This has happened on about 3 other occurrences in the past but it always seems to work eventually and work great for a very long time. Any suggestions on what this might be? I'm assuming it's not a mechanical issue but possible electrical (maybe switch or solenoid)? It has a 4 speed manual with power reversing transmission (forward and reverse). Forward works fine.

Wondering if there is a fuse or solenoid to check. Anyone have a suggestion how to access the compartment under the instrument panel?

**UPDATE** I know you guys were busy all day/ all night pondering my question, but while you were doing so, I fixed it! Turns out the shift lever wasn't giving the transmission enough throw to engage reverse. I loosened the bracket holding the shift lever and it gave the shifter enough give to engage reverse successfully! :jump:
