Ford 4000?

Looking for any help identifying model. We are trying to repair the 3pt (keeps drifting down) and the PTO (won't disengage). It's a 3 cylinder diesel with ram power steering. Thanks y'all. Wes

These are the only stamped numbers i see. The rest are embossed Ford part numbers

According to the serial number it's a 1972 model, if it's a 4000. You should be able to call a Ford/New Holland dealer with those numbers and confirm if it's a 4000 or not.

Found this chart, looks like it is a 4000 according to the "D" on the first line.

Will the PTO not disengage or does it just always spin? I haven't seen a Ford tractor yet that the PTO didn't always spin but when resistance is placed against it it will stop. I will say you can grab it and it will stop but the safety police don't like that so take a 2x4 or 2x4, wedge it between the drawbar and shaft and place pressure against the spinning shaft and see if it stops, then engage the pto lever and see if it doesn't stop with pressure. If that test works out that way then leave it alone and use it. The drifting 3 point can be as simple as the nut on the quadrant holding it all together. Is the quadrant lever moving as well?

If the D makes it a 4000 does the ram steering make it a SU (special utility)?

Post a better photo of the rear end. It looks to me that you have the smaller axles of a 3000.
