bought a new(to me) branson but still got the old ford 4000(1973?, ind. pto). needs some work but will crank and run. the pto shaft seal leaks again after i paid someone to put it in after i couldn't shaft back in. the thrust washer whipped me. i believe the inside snap ring has broken again but the shaft is still in place, i'm just not gonna use the pto for now. is there a fix for this? implement shaft telescopes properly, although bush hog does have vibration. if not i may just use it with non pto implements. seal doesn't leak bad when pto not turning

A proper repair done by someone that either knows or can figure out how to do it right will give the results you want. Tens of thousands of Ford tractors use these same parts & pieces successfully.

I'm dealing with a similar issue right now. With that inside snap ring broken the shaft can work itself out and cause problems. You probably solved this a long time ago. Knowing the exact year is a good thing and a service manual. Not sure why I'm writing this except Super Member RickB seemed like such an arrogant snarky dick. I've gotton a lot of help on this formum but have not been here in a while.
