I dont see the point on having the extra line for no real reason the pb line will go back to the sump eventually any way.I have see someone that runs a wood splitter just have the two lines connected when not in use then connect up to the wood splitter when in use with no problems so why have a 3 line going to the sump when it will be going there anyway? If i did the return line is there a proper fitting to remove the filler plug on my rear end and connect a hose.

When using the filler plug to add a return hose, you adapt to whatever is available, so there is no leakage and there is a breather/vent.

The OUT/return hose should not see any or very little pressure , whereby the PB hose will see the high pressure and can handle it.

Keep in mind that when you are using the 3pt and lifting max load, all the hoses and valves in the series path upstream, are pressurized up to pump relief pressure.

Hi,

Digging this up as I have a related question.

In use, how do these adapter plates work?

I have a 4600 with the simple selector valve supplying a triple spool valve for a loader, return goes in via the filler port.

To operate the loader I pull out the selector knob and lift the linkage lever. but then the linkage is locked out, also if the linkage is up and I pull out the selector knob I get a very slow flow to the loader.

Apart from the difference in plumbing, do these adapter plates change the operation of the linkage/loader in use? basically can I operate the loader and linkage independantly with this plate?

Yes .

Hi, this thread closely matches my situation but i want to be doubly sure i am doing this correctly.
I have a ford 4600 and am trying to connect a bushhog front end loader

The front end loader has two control levers and only two hydraulic fittings for me to connect lines to from the tractor - one in, one out

Tractor has a selector valve - i have purchased an HV5902 adapter plate kit to go under the selector valve

The HV5902 has the three holes - P, PB, and return port

If i am reading correctly, I should run P to the loader and then other port exiting the loader would return to the PB port on the HV5902, then the third hole on the HV5902 which is the 'return port' would be plugged?

I am reading about the back pressure issue if the loader returns to the 'return port', 1)does this (P->loader , loader ->PB, return port plugged on HV5902) solve everything or would there be potential problems? or 2) should i purchase a joystick valve for the loader that has a PB port? or 3) should i purchase the HV4902 that only has two ports since the loader only has two ports

If option 1 is okay, how do i know if the loader levers/valves are open center valves and not closed center? - per paperwork with hv5902, they have to be open center valves

thank you
