Hello, I've decided to convert my ford 4000 to alternator as the Genny isn't cutting it, I'm just wondering can someone give me a run down on how to wire the alternator in correctly, this model has 3 spade connectors on the back 2 big and 1 small I'm presuming the small is battery light and one big spade is charge to battery? Thanks

Suppose maybe you give us a small clue as to what brand and maybe even model of alternator it is?
Or perhaps that plus a picture of the back of the alternator?

Do you have an aux tach drive, or are you planning on loosing your tach to go to a common alternator?
You coil get an alt with tach drive. They used to be spendy, and were external reg gm 10dn I think. Someone makes a 10si converted one with worm drive now.
I'd abandon your Genny wiring and re hook other side of the vreg, making your connections there.

Did you get one with an internal or external regulator
Hi, my bad on the lack of info Rickb the alternator is made by qtp(quality tractor parts ) it's a 45amp alternator with a built in regulator I'll try to post pics if it now, as regard the tach drive I have fitted a new oil pump drive gear with the drive unit so I can run my dash from there, I have also fitted a new anticlockwise dash so all is good on that end it's just the cable hook up I'm unsure of

When I converted my 4000, the alternator came with clear and concise instructions and pics. I would assume the one you order will also.

Your link doesn't work. even using their filtering by make / model.. i don't see anything but ford new holland, and your model is not listed.
The only 45a model I see is their 2421P

Did they show an associated wire harness adapter or ?
