Ford made 250 and 350 trucks with auto locking hubs. Parts are no longer available thru Ford. My truck is a 1996 F-350. A special socket-OTC part #6796 is needed to remove the FW bearing locknut. I spent two days finding this out. If you have the truck with the auto locking hubs this is a well kept secret. Do not buy A truck with these hubs without allowing for the price of aftermarket replacements.

I dont understand? Most guys I know that have a issue simply put Warn Hubs on it and call it a day. Cheap easy fix.

If you switch to manual you will also need the jam nut, keyed washer, and locknut. FYI the manual uses a different hub socket than the auto so you will need both sockets. You can rent the tools from Auto Zone for free or use a hammer and punch (not recommended)
