Ford 3000 Diesel starter

How do I remove 3rd bolt behind starter next to block? Have removed battery plate for more visual access from above. I've tried positioning socket with wobble extension but there is little room for my big hands. Do I have more obstacles to remove? Losing patience in this -20 Celsius winter weather.

3/8" drive 6 point flex socket; 6" extension, ratchet. May want to remove the fuel filter, will probably help somebody that hasn't ever done this before.

Will remove double fuel filters & hope for access to land swivel socket on head of bolt.

Don't put the ratchet on the extension till the socket is on the bolt head. A couple wraps of electrical tape (not too tight) around the flex joint of the socket will hold it almost straight if the joint is real loose.

ditto what rick said. AND, if you use 2 expensions, you don't even have to remove the fuel filter head, just loosen lines so it can move a lil.

ditto on swivel head sockets, or one of those click in u-joints. I used 2 6" extensions, plus a socket, plus a short 3" wobble extension. it's a PITA. almost as bad as the top starter STUD on a dodge ram. it uses 2 bolts and a stud. stud is on top, bolts on bottom. starter is right under engine, you literally go at it blind feeling around with an extension and socket that is stuffed with a wad of tape to keep the nut at the front. AND the electrical connections are ont he top of the starter too! BONUS!
