Ford 2000
Hello folks, seems I am the proud owner of a Ford 2000 series tractor. Paid $1500 for it.

Unfortunately a tree fell on the front & crushed the front top of the hood and grill and got the radiator as well but my uncle has beat it out and welded it up to where it will work before I bought it. It didn't come with any fenders but since my family has had an old 8N for years and acquired a 600 series as well we have accumulated a few parts through the years and happened to have an extra set. Bolts right on and looks great. Just needs a radiator and a few extra things to have it running.

After searching around I figured out it has the C0NN-6015G motor in it (Making it the 2000 series right?) which places it from 1962 to 64. No problem, nice to know. Unless there is something wrong with the motor design but I have not found anything on the net to say good or bad about this motor.

I looked at deciphering the serial No. and found it thanks to oldfordtractors.com website but unfortunately half of the numbers are gone. *1301 is the best I can make out and that's iffy at best. Since its a 134 motor it has to be a 21301 which is 134 ci gasoline engine, industrial and agricultural models produced after 1963, utility-type tractor w/non-adjustable front axle, four-speed w/PTO.

Here is where it gets a little harder to identify this tractor. It is a high row with a power steering adjustable front end with a massive hunk of iron sticking out the front with a straight axle under it, I say adjustable because right now the outside of the front tires matches the outside of the rear tires OD to OD but it looks like I can extend them OUT more but not IN. Why you would do that I have no idea! I have spent 2 days scouring the web looking for pictures and it seems no one has a picture that matches this tractor. Could it be a three wheel with an aftermarket 4 wheel conversion kit or did ford do this from the factory? If that's the case then the numbers don't match what the tractor was made with at all & I may have a frankentractor.

There are 2 pictures on oldfordtractors.com that sort of look like my front end but you have to combine the hundred series Row Crop steering frame and block under the front, add on a giant block in front of it and attach the red 6000 series front axle!

Any help here would be appreciated and do ya think I got a good deal?

calm down... it's not an alien..... you have a quite common, un rare rowcrop with ford factory wide front end.

pre 57, front bolsters were single piece....after 57 2 part front bolsters were normal. you could get single wheel, dual wheel narrow, and dual wheel wide.

you have the dual wheel wide.

I don't have my manual with me.. but if your trans says anything other than what you see.. it's another trans.... not a biggie...

here's my 63 4000 rowcrop.

anything look familiar?

Yup, that's the front end. Sorta,,,

Unlike the one in your pictures mine has a hydraulic power unit but other than that it matches.

THANKS! Now I don't have to worry about trying to track down the parts for this thing through some aftermarket power steering bolt-on.

The leveling box on a rowcrop, is it hard to find or is it made out of pure unobtanium? Mine was broke right below the top threads and someone welded it up but now it wont turn.

You think its a good price assuming everything works as it should? Runs like a top but I haven't been able to run it for long since it has no radiator.

Alien, I like that. :)

no sorta about it. it's the same front end. you happen to have power steering.

1500$ is about right for a rowcrop.

the 3pt parts are $hard$ to find, as they are not common to the other models.

I have taken rods, cut them, and welded new threaded sections on using allthread or large bolts.. and then, if needed chased the sleeve.. or welded a large nut to it, and ground it down.

works fine. my 2n has a welded leveling box liek that. never a moments trouble..

fun tractors. good for mowing. and that wide front end is certaintly NO WORSE than the standard ag wide adjustable front end that a 8xx would have.

One last question for ya.

From what I have read the 2000 I have is basically a 6XX tractor with a redesigned sheet metal hood & grill. Since the 2000 series also included a 3 Cyl. engine in the line at a later date would it be a good idea to buy a 6XX/8XX parts & shop manual for this particular tractor instead of wasted pages in a manual about an engine I don't own?

Thank you so much for your assistance in this!

you are confusing model lines.

in 65 a 3cyl series came out. they are in no practical way related to t he prior model 4 cyl machines

a 2000 63-64 rowcrop would be functionally similar to a 701 rowcrop.. just like a 4000 63-64 rowcrop would be similar to a 901 rowcrop.

701 is the 134/144ci engine.. 901 is the 172 ci engine

a parts manual that covers the 01 series likely covers the 000 4 cyl as well. the I&T fo-20 shop manual covers 55-64 machines
