Help!
I have been using these forums for a wealth of knowledge while rebuilding my 1971 3-cy diesel Ford 2000 machine. While I have the loader assembly off of it, I am trying to fix all of its "issues" I have been dealing with since I got the machine, the worst being fuel leak (which I will hopefully get fixed with new washers on the CAV pump) and hydraulic suction leak causing loss of prime within a few hours.
After reading many posts about similar problems I ordered a hyd cover rebuild kit and suction filter just in case I needed them. The suction line is the push in style in the pump and I assumed the o-ring was the problem there. I replaced that but no change. I tried putting a ring of blue gasket maker around the suction side and still no change. So, I started looking toward the back side to see if the leak could be on that end. I bit the bullet and pulled the hyd lift cover off but in doing so, the cover popped loose on the back side but wasn't clear on the front, causing the lift pressure tube (part num c7nnb853d) to get bent. I knew it was hosed anyway, so attempted to straighten it but it broke as I predicted it would. So, now I have to replace this part, and although I have searched for hours and have the part number, I can not find any available. Does anyone know where I might find one? It shows on many of the pages as 12.06" pressure tube.

And, any other ideas where my suction leak may be coming from? everything looked surprisingly in good shape inside once I got the cover off so I am now starting to think toward a leak inside the hyd pump may be the culprit.

Thanks!!!!!
Gator

Hey, at this point, that tube is the difference in a working tractor and a 4000 lb boat anchor, so I'll give them a call and get one ordered if they have it! Thanks! That never came up on my search last night. Thats why I thought I'd turn to the friends on here!

Well, I called them and they do not have the part and can not get one. They said my best bet will likely be a salvage. Any other suggestions? I have a call in waiting for T & H Salvage in Ga to check for one but its been several hours so my hope if fading.

Is there anything special about the tube? Oring grooves, end fittings or factory bend.
if not you may be able to make a replacement from std hydraulic tube, if the outside dimension is the same you only need to cut it to correct length.

Nothing really special, its a straight 12.06" tube, 5/8" (0.625") OD and 0.40" ID that has 1 grove on each end for o-rings and 1 grove on one side for a snap ring but I think I can duplicate that on the lathe if I have to. Just hoping I can find one somewhere and save the hassle and time. I have been looking for the blank tube but have not found anything to fit exactly yet but may have found a few 5/8 tubes that would work. Still puzzled though as to where the suction leak is getting in which caused me to remove the lid/damage the tube in the first place.

Here's a list of 53 Ford 2000's in salvage yards across the U.S. Do be aware some are older 4 cyl. models, so you'll have to sort through the list. And I'm not sure if all 3 cyl. 2000's were all the same hyd. system. Maybe Soundguy will catch this thread, and verify.

None the less, here is the link to TractorHouse, listing the in salvage 2000's. Hopefully, you'll find one half way close to you. http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/dismantledsearch.aspx?ETID=3&Manu=FORD&Mdltxt=2000&mdlx=exact

suction leak might be in the pump shaft too.

Thanks to both. I have a call in to the first yard on the list, waiting his return call then I'll move on down the list.

SouNdguy, thanks for backing me up on that. I read that on some previous posts you were involved in and was curious to see if you thought that might be my issue. I have a rebuild kit already ordered thinking that might be the direction I have to go.

So far I have flushed and cleaned with the diesel/alcohol trick, replaced the o ring on the suction side into the pump, added silicone to that area to make sure to seal and no real difference. I opened up the Hyd lift and all looks good inside there. I did not pull the suction line out and replace that o-ring yet because it is submerged in oil so I do not think that one will let air in without letting oil out and I had no external leaks on that (that may be the ONLY thing on the whole tractor that doesn't leak).
